God is Kind

Dear Beloved, 

What comes to your mind when you hear the word kind? Do you think of manners, respect, or patience? Do you think of someone holding the door open for you, or picking up a piece of trash? Take a second and think about what it means to be truly kind. God meets every single guideline that is attached to that word, and more. 

A while back, I told myself I was going to be more kind to the people around me. For those of you who know me, I tend to have a short fuse and very little tolerance for nonsense. (I've gotten better, but I'm still a work in progress.) So I began to focus on how I interacted with other people. I started to pay attention to how I would say certain things, and what not to say. And MAN, let me tell you... being kind is hard. 

I'm not saying that to be cliche or whatever. I'm very serious. It's hard to be super intentional about everything you do. It's hard to break old habits. It's hard to show God's love to the people that drive us crazy. But God... 

God has no issue with being kind. Revelation 3:20 says, "Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me." 

God is the ultimate gentleman. God stands at the entrance to our hearts and watches you sin, and make poor choices. Waiting patiently for you to invite Him in. God won't barge into your heart and force you to see Him and love Him. (Which he could very well do). God does thing regardless of the things we do. If God's kindness was a reflection of ours... we would not have been born. 

Titus 3:4-5 reads, "But when the kindness of God our Savior and His love for mankind appeared, He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy"

We as humans have done nothing for God to love us the way He does. But because of His kindness and mercy, He chooses to continually save us and protect us. God does all of this due to the simple fact that He is kind.
