God is Just

Dear beloved,

So far we have talked about some of God's more gentle characteristics. And yes, while God is peace, faithful, and kind, he is also just and fair.

For those of you who don't know, Just and Fair is basically what you earn. By that I mean, if you have an active relationship with God, and do everything you can to separate yourself from the world while making disciples out of it, God will find favor in you. But if you claim God on Sunday and Wednesday and the rest of the week is for whatever you want. Then God will have His way.

For the longest time it confused me how God gives us chance after chance if he was supposedly "just". I didn't understand how someone could claim to love us and then claim Ezekiel 18 over us. ( "The One Who Sins Will Die." )

Not going to lie, when I was younger I used to think that there were people out there here who were able to fool God. By that I mean, I always thought that there were people who would hear the Gospel and how God washes our sins away, and decide to “live their life” in the world. Then right before they die, they Finally accept God. But because God is just, stuff like that doesn't phase Him at all.

Take it from me. A girl who thought that going to church was enough. Or thought that the quick little prayer before I ate was enough to get me through the golden gates. I genuinely considered myself a good person and therefore a Christian. I didn’t smoke or drink. I never hated someone and I didn’t fight people. I’d always give homeless people my loose change.
Little did I know that by doing just enough, I was basically mocking God. I now find it funny that when I was removed from my situation and given a re-set, I would scream and cry that it wasn’t fair. But wasn’t it??

Jeremiah 27:10 says, "I the Lord search the heart and examine the mind, to reward each person according to their own conduct according to what their deeds deserve." In case you didn't catch on... God takes a look at the true intentions of our hearts. He sees when we are truly trying to change and pursue Him. All the times I thought I was doing something good, God saw that my intentions weren’t to glorify Him, or lead more people to Him. Looking back, it’s more like I was just doing those meaningless things, to make me feel better about myself.

God is not a push over. You can't just turn to God when you need to clear your conscious. That's like asking God to forgive you just because, and then going right back to your old ways. Our God is a just God who can look deep into our hearts true intentions and desires.
