God is Faithful

Dear Beloved,

There have been many times where I found myself wondering why God still loves us. Looking over all the decisions I've made, fully conscious, and aware of the consequences I might face later on. It's mind-blowing that God still chooses to love us.

All throughout the Bible, we are called the bride of Christ. Jeremiah 3:20 says, "But like a woman unfaithful to her husband, so you, Israel, have been unfaithful to me." I'm sure that you know that being unfaithful consists of choosing something over your spouse. So before you close this tab offended that I've called you a cheater... think about how many times you've chosen to listen to that explicit song, or watch that inappropriate movie. How many times did you give in to peer pressure and ignore your spirit (conscious)?

Lucky for us, God is faithful. He sees past our sins and through our facade straight into our souls.

Take The Parable Of The Lost Son as an example. (Also known as The Prodigal Son) Luke 15:11-32 is all about this son that chooses to take what his father had in store for him, and throw it away for, what he thought would be a good time. When the boy has nothing left and is eating the food of pigs, he decides to go home. My favorite part of this parable is verse 20.

"While he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him, and kissed him." The father stood there, waiting and watching for his son to come home. Before the son even made it to the gate, the father was running to him arms wide open. Ready to embrace him and welcome him back with the finest clothes and the fattest foods.

Replace the father with God, and we are the son. God is ready to embrace us with arms open wide. He's ready to celebrate us when we choose to completely commit to Him. Not to mention, He doesn't struggle to love us. God doesn't shame us or remind us of our sins. He doesn't hesitate to welcome us back. God never goes back on His promises either. He is faithful to His own words.

Joshua 21:45 says, "Not one of all the Lord’s good promises to Israel failed; every one was fulfilled." Going back to Jeremiah 3, we can see how unfaithful Israel is. They turned on Him time and time again. They knew who He was, and they turned their faces away from His. Still, God said, " 'Return, faithless Israel,' Declares the Lord, 'I will frown on you no longer, for I am faithful.'"

“I am Faithful.”
