Last Chance
Dear Beloved,
I felt like I had to follow up on last week's blog. I had written about our one chance. I stated that you have one chance to have an impact on a stranger. I also asked about the impression that you're giving off.
However, I feel like there is one type of impression that often goes overlooked. There is a chance that you've never heard of it either. I like to call it 'The Last Impression." Let me give you some context.
"Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit”— yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.”
Waking up tomorrow isn't a guarantee. You are here one moment and gone the next. So when I reference the last impression, I mean, your very last impression. You have to treat every encounter like it may be the last because you don't know if it will be.
I remember being a kid and my mom telling my siblings and me that from then on, we had to say I love you after we say goodbye. Because if we rush out of the house and something happens to one of us, we will always know that our last impression was a good one.
How you treat the people in your life, whether its new friends or old worn-out family, you should be reflecting Jesus at all times. That's how we can see the difference between a Christian and a church attendee. You can't put your love for God away on the weekdays. It will naturally overflow into every area of your life.
